Swap high sugar snacks including chocolate bars, biscuits and cereal bars for lower sugar versions such as teacakes and fruit breads

Avoid sweet sandwich fillings such as jam or chocolate spread as these are high in sugar and may lead to tooth decay

If your child isn’t keen on wholegrain, try making a sandwich using 1 slice wholemeal and 1 slice white, or use 50/50 ‘best of both’ varieties
